Mother struggles to provide daily meals to small children
A woman in Nghe An Province is calling for financial support to help provide medical treatment for her daughter and raise small children.
"I nearly fainted when doctors said Hang had hydrocephalus at birth. I cried my eyes out. I have to be strong for her and other children," Vinh said.
Vinh had to sell their cattle to pay hospital charges. Vinh said she was ready to give up now since they had nothing left. Vinh said they were in debt and grateful to their relatives and neighbours' help. As Hang's head gets bigger and bigger, the doctors have to implant a thin tube in the brain to drain the excess fluid to the abdominal cavity. However, Hang is getting weaker and weaker.
"Sometimes, I have to ask neighbours to give me some leftover rice for the children. I don't know what to do," Vinh said.
Thai Van Cam, vice chairman of Tay Thanh Commune People's Committee, said, "Vinh's family is one of our hardest cases. The children are too small and Vinh can't shoulder it all after her husband left. I really hope they will get help."
