Tuong's house

Tuong’s father has left home since he was small. Since then, her mother Tran Thi Luong has been the family’s only mainstay.

Luong has had to try to do different kinds of jobs to support the family despite her spinal problems. Every day, Tuong and his mother come to fields to catch crabs and snails to earn money.

They are living in a dilapidated house with nothing valuable inside.

Luong’s parents died early and her brothers and sisters are also very poor.

Tuong said that he wants to leave school to stay at home to support her mother when he can, but his mother wants him to continue studying.

The school recently called for donations to help Tuong but the money is very modest. His head teacher Do Thi Hoa said that she had proposed the school exempt tuition fees and help to buy textbooks and an electrical bike for him.

Hoa, however, worried that he was too weak to continue his studies.
