Ill parents call for help for small children
A couple in Nam Dinh Province is calling for financial help to support their small children as they are both suffering from cancer.
Hoang Van Tu, born in 1969, married Le Thi Thuy Ngan and has two children together. Their eldest child was 15 years old and the youngest is 7. Despite the poverty, they worked hard to take care of their small family.

However, in 2016, Ngan fell sick and had to be hospitalised where she was diagnosed with liver cancer. Since then, she has mostly stayed at the hospital.
"When my wife was still healthy, our wages as labourers were enough to live by," Tu said. "We already sold valuable belongings including our motorbike. There's only our daughters' bicycle left."
Unfortunately, Tu was diagnosed with bladder cancer later. Ngan has reached the last stage of cancer after three operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy from 2016 to 2020.

Tu said he still went to work for several millions of VND each month. They are deep in debt and can't borrow any more. Tu's family depends on the kindness of the neighbours and help from relatives.
Hoang Ngoc Long, head of the residential cluster of Thang Street, Mai Xa Commune, said, "They are in a very difficult situation. Their children have really good academic results so it will be such a waste if they have to drop out. I hope the community will help them."
