Family desperately calls for help for son after a stroke
A couple in Thanh Hoa Province are calling for financial support to save their son who is in critical condition following a stroke.
24-year-old Le Quoc Hoi, was in the final year at Thai Nguyen Medical University when he had a stroke and became paralysed.
When Hoi was accepted into the university, his father, Le Thanh Nghi, borrowed VND47m (USD2,000) to pay for his study fee and hoped Hoi could have a better future. However, one day, the fourth year student went out to their front yard and didn't return. When the father went out to find his son, he saw Hoi collapsed on the ground.

"At that time, doctors said his surviving chance was only 2% but he pulled through. He was then transferred to Hanoi's hospital for stem cell transplants. I was told he needed to go through two operations and each transplant would cost over VND100m (USD4,300)," the father said. "It's too much for us."
The family is already over VND400m (USD17,200) in debt during the treatment and can hardly borrow any more money. Nghi works in the fields and as a bricklayer sometimes to support the family.
Nghi said, "Doctors said my son could recover if he had a stem cell transplant. So I put my house up for sale but I can't find a buyer yet. I also borrowed everywhere but it's still not enough. We should be at the hospital today. He kept asking me when he could go to the hospital and I couldn't answer."
