Ethnic man calls for help for ill daughter
A man of the H'mong ethnic group in Son La Province is calling for financial support to help save his 12-year-old daughter from Japanese encephalitis.
Song A Nenh, 29, has nine siblings but only Nenh could continue studying until ninth grade. Nenh got married and had his first child at 17 years old and welcomed two more in the following years.

Three months ago, his eldest daughter, Song Thi Xong, suddenly had a fever that lasted days. He sold a cow and nearly all the rice and corn they had to earn money to bring her to the National Children Hospital in Hanoi where his daughter was diagnosed with Japanese encephalitis and epilepsy. When her situation improved, she was transferred to the Central Acupuncture Hospital.

Dr Vu Thi Vui said the hospital had agreed to let Nenh owe them money two weeks ago. The family still has to pay for expensive medicines that are not covered by health insurance.
"His daughter has shown positive signs so I hope she will get help to recover," Vui said.
