Kidney patients receive help from readers

Dantri Newspaper has transferred VND458 million in readers' donations to support 132 kidney patients in Hanoi.

On September 6, Dantri representatives and the heads of Residential Cluster 2 in Bach Mai Ward transferred VND458,087,500 (USD20,000) to 132 patients living in the rental apartments on Le Thanh Nghi Street, nicknamed the kidney failure village. Of which VND132m came from Saigon-Hanoi Bank.

A patient, Mai Anh Tuan, said, "We’re all moved and appreciated the help from the public as we are facing various difficulties amid Covid-19 pandemic. This gives us more motivation to face our challenges."

Another patient, Vu Thi Lanh from Bac Giang Province said the money was enough for her living expenses next month. "I know everyone is affected by Covid-19 but they still donated and helped us," she said.

After discussing with each other, the patients only received VND3m (USD131) each and donated VND62,087,500 to the Covid-19 frontline workers as a way to help curb the outbreak.

"This is also our chance to share and help other people too," said Dinh Thi Dung, a patient from Nam Dinh Province.
