Phuong was seriously injured after the traffic accident

She has had operations on her left leg and had her uterus, bladder and ovary removed. She has recovered consciousness after many days in a coma.

Phuong’s mother Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said that she had borrowed up to VND200 million (USD8,064) for the treatment.

Huong's family depends on a modest income of just VND4 million per month from a guava plantation.

The driver who caused the accident was very poor and has so far only managed to pay compensation of VND60 million to Phuong’s family.

Doctor Nguyen Thanh Cuong from Hospital 108 said that Phuong has escaped critical condition, but she needs long and costly treatment.

Phuong has recorded good study results, particularly in literature. She dreams of becoming a literature teacher in the future.
