Ngan fainted in her class several times and then had to suspend her studies for treatment.

In 2016, her second child Nguyen Trong Khanh, three years old, faced the same symptoms as Ngan and was also diagnosed with leukaemia. Nga burst into tears after receiving the news from doctors.

After giving birth to the third child Nguyen Trong Khoi in 2020, Nga felt tired and had fevers. Doctors said that she had developed thyroid cancer.

Both Ngan and Khanh are now struggling with high fevers. But they have not yet been taken to hospital because of the family’s financial difficulties.

The whole family now depends on the modest income of Nga’s husband Nguyen Dinh Tien who does different kinds of jobs, including being a porter to earn money.

Their two children are hospitalised every 15 days for treatment.

The family has incurred a big debt.

Nguyen Van Hieu, a representative from Bac Giang's Red Cross, said that Nga’s family was among the poorest in the locality. He hoped that donors could help them.
