One year after their father's death, Quan started showing symptoms like unsteady walking and difficulty sitting down and standing up. He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy shortly after. Nghia began exhibiting similar symptoms a year later and was diagnosed with the same condition. The boys have since required bi-monthly hospital visits in Hanoi for treatment.

Despite their efforts, the family has seen the boys' condition deteriorate, leading to paralysis. Nghia's weight has alarmingly dropped to just 10 kilos. After their mother remarried last year, her visits have become increasingly rare.

Nguyen Huy Tai, vice chairman of Quynh Loc Commune, highlighted the family's dire financial situation, noting that while the local community has offered some assistance, it remains insufficient. Tai expressed hope that sharing their story through Dantri/DTiNews would mobilise further support for the family.
