The Vietnamese national football team lost 1-2 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) rivals in its first match of the 2015 Asian Cup qualifying round at Hanoi’s My Dinh National Stadium on February 6.
Vietnamese goalkeeper Thanh Binh was beaten by Ahmed Khalil’s penalty shootout in the 11th minute.

Vietnam had its first chance in the 14th minute when striker Hong Quan made a powerful header after receiving the ball from midfielder Thanh Luong but it was saved by the UAE goalie.

The UAE then counter-attacked with midfielder Mabkhout firing the ball in the box in the 18th minute, but the shoot was parried by Thanh Binh.

More than 10 minutes later, Mabkhout failed to double the scoring when his ball hit the cross bar.

In the 35th minute Tan Tai accurately passed the ball to Quoc Anh, who unluckily tapped it off the post.

In the second half Mabkhout ran fast and dribbled the ball past Thanh Binh but his finish hit the post.

Vietnam finally equalized the scoring in the 60th minute when Quoc Anh received the ball from Tan Tai and made a powerful header to beat goalie Ali Khaseif.

Al Fardan scored the second goal five minutes later after getting the ball from a corner-kick in the right wing and heading it into the net.

25 minutes later Quoc Anh’s shoot hit the back of an UAE player and changed the direction to make it possible for Ali Khaseif to save it.

In the 87th minute Nguyen Sa jumped high and made a nice header over Ali Khaseif, but the ball again hit the cross bar.
