The French culinary festival Balade en France (Walking in France) will be held in Hanoi for the fourth time early next month.

French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet speaks at a press conference announcing the event on March 27.

French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet announced that the event will take place at Thong Nhat Park in the Hai Ba Trung District from April 5-7 at a Wednesday press conference.

"After three successful previous events, we're going to make this year's festival the largest French culinary event in Vietnam with over 70 stalls to promote French food and culture," he said.

According to the French Embassy, they will introduce some of the best French specialities at the festival such as cheese, wine, butter, bacon, crepes, chocolate, and more. Long-established French restaurants in Hanoi, such as La Table Hanoia, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Saint Honoré Bakery, will showcase their best at the festival.

To welcome the Olympic Games that Paris will host this summer, Balade en France 2024 also features a wide range of sports activities, including basketball, golf, badminton, archery and tennis.

There will also be a Break Dance & Hip Hop competition with prestigious local and international judges. The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on Friday, April 5 at 7 pm.

The event is part of the celebration of the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Vietnam and the 11th anniversary of the strategic partnership in 2024, organised by the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Hanoi People’s Committee.

The event is expected to attract 500,000 visitors.

Last year, the Balade En France 2023 welcomed 350,000 visitors.
