Artist Phuong Vu Manh will perform his body painting, as part of his “Life” exhibition, on 5 models bodies today, March 12 at 6PM at L’Espace, 24 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi.

The theme of his exhibition is chaos in daily life between humans and nature. Manh said, “Artists are interested in looking for beauty and life with creativity thus, we should be free in the way of creating and searching.”

For the first time, he will perform body painting on female models in public. Previously he did a body painting performance on males at the Lanh Giang temple festival. Manh also did a “buffalo” painting performance during Tich dien Festival.

He said that he started body painting in 1996 when he even did not know its name. He believes this art form is highly aesthetic and extraordinary in comparison with traditional painting.

During the exhibition, he will be put in a closed coffin made of glass and equipped with blood and oxygen transfusion tubes as well as flowers surrounding his body.

Explaining about his unique works, Manh said, “It conveys images of the vulnerable nature and humans. They need help.”

In addition, he will bring sounds from daily life to make his performance come alive.

Body painting works will tell the audience about life, humans and nature. After the painting is finished, models will move in accordance with light, sound and images.

Artists such as Phuong Vu Manh are contributing to bringing body painting art closer to people.
