Meanwhile, "War Witch" by Vietnamese Canadian director Kim Nguyen is selected as the representative for Canada.

“Mui Co Chay” features four Hanoian students, namely Hoang, Thanh, Thang and Long, who joined the army during the resistance war against US aggression in 1971.

They were trained very fast and then sent to the Quang Tri ancient citadel battlefield. Three of them died in heavy fighting, only Hoang luckily returned home on Vietnam’s Reunifcation Day (April 30, 1975). His experience of the 81 day-and-night fighting in the citadel and Thach Han river area is unforgettable.

In Vietnam, Scent of Burnt Grass has received a number of important awards, most recently the best film and best editor in the 2011 Golden Kite Award.

The list also does not have South Korean movie “Pieta”, which won the Golden Lion Award.

Austrian film – “Amour” by Michael Haneke, which won the Palme d'Or Award 2012, is considered the top candidate of the Best Foreign Film Award.

Notably, up to 4 out of 5 films nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the Golden Globes Awards are on the list: "Amour" (Austria), "The Intouchables" (France), "Kon-Tiki" (Norway) and "A Royal Affair" (Denmark).

Other movies in the list include: "No" (Chile), "War Witch" (Canada), "Beyond the Hills" (Romania), "Sister" (Switzerland) and "The Deep" (Iceland).
