The traditional Vietnamese long dress or ao dai will be represented at a fashion show to be held at the American Museum of Natural History, New York City, on January 25-26.

Vietnamese fashion designer Le Thanh Phuong will present an ao dai collection at the show which is part of the museum’s Asian Lunar Year event. The programme will include traditional music, food and fashion activities and is expected to attract artists from China, South Korea and Japan.

According to the Institute for Vietnamese Culture and Education, Phuong was selected because his long dresses have largely retained their tradition design.

Along with ao dai display, a Dong Ho folk painting and calligraphy exhibition will be held.
