Vietnamese designer invited to Paris Fashion Week - Haute Couture 2018

Do Trinh Hoai Nam has become the first Vietnamese designer to be invited to the prestigious Paris Fashion Week - Haute Couture 2018 which is due to be held on January 23.

30 Ao dais (long dresses) in Nam's Women in Love collection will be introduced together with designs by world's well-known designers including Chanel, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Fendi, and Stephane Rolland at the event.

The designer shared that his collection is inspired by the stained glass windows set among the Gothic architecture of 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

"Each design of the collection was handmade by hundreds of people and took at least six months to finish," Nam said.

The criteria for Paris Fashion Week is that all products must cost more than USD10,000, each design must take over 300 working hours to complete, and all designs must be made with luxury materials from Italy and France.

Earlier, Do Trinh Hoai Nam became the first Vietnamese designer to join the New York Couture Fashion Week 2017 on September 8 with his latest collection entitled The Golden Lotus Ao Dai Collection.

Nam is a top fashion designer in Vietnam. He began designing in his early teens and has gone on to build a highly successful career and brand, which has been operating for over 20 years in the Vietnamese market.

Nam’s designs are known for their dramatic and sophisticated flair and are known for their handmade embroidery with glamorous and luxurious gold leaf and gemstone embellishments.
