The organisers will review and select performances that show off traditional arts from the northern, central and southern regions. Xoe and bamboo dancing will feature the north, bai choi and gong dancing will represent the central region while Khmer dance and don ca tai tu singing will represent the south.

Visitors can also attend many outdoor events and games.

Vuong Duy Bien, deputy director of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "We want to make Nguyen Hue Street into a venue for traditional arts so that the artists will feel at home when playing for the public. It's also a way to promote Vietnam to the world."

Bien said he hoped the festival would become a regular event on Nguyen Hue Street.

Luu Thi Hong Diem, the representative of the festival's organisers, said the most important thing was the scenery and even though they had spent a lot on setting up the scenes along Nguyen Hue Street, it was necessary. She hoped the festival could attract children.

The festival will be held from 4-10 pm from April 13 to 15. On the last day, the festival will start at 8 am.
