The southern province of Ben Tre and a Hanoi-headquartered company are in dispute over their co-operation contracts with Miss Earth 2018 Nguyen Phuong Khanh.

Under a communication contract signed with her home town, Ben Tre, on April 10 this year, Phuong Khanh would act as the province’s Tourism Ambassador until December 31, 2021. She would help to promote provincial tourism activities inside and outside the country.

However, recently, the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism received a petition from Queen Zone JS Company proposing to withdraw Phuong Khanh’s Tourism Ambassador title.

According to Queen Zone, the company and Phuong Khanh had signed a contract in which the firm is the sole unit to use her images on mass media as well as her representative to sign other co-operation agreements with a third party.

Queen Zone JS Company also requested Phuong Khanh to make a public apology to the firm on mass media for the violation.

Ben Tre authorities held a meeting on the issue, but no representative from the company attended the event.

Nguyen Van Quynh, Phuong Khanh’s lawyer, said that she and Queen Zone inked the contract in April 2018 before she joining Miss Earth 2018 contest. However, since the signing, the two sides have not co-operated. Meanwhile, Phuong Khanh played the role of Ben Tre’s Tourism Ambassador without payment.

She has also got approval from the organising board of Miss Earth 2018 to be the province’s Tourism Ambassador.

Truong Quoc Phong, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the province still welcomed Phuong Khanh as the Tourism Ambassador.

Phuong Khanh said that she had tried to settle the issue with Queen Zone and there was nothing related to Ben Tre.
