Street festival expected to boost Sam Son tourism
Sam Son City in Thanh Hoa Province will organise a street carnival in late June in order to boost local tourism.
Various events will be held including Chau Van traditional singing club, national beach volleyball tournament on July 2 to 5 and Sam Son open off-road bike tournament in July. Local food and products will be offered to tourists. There will be a 15-minute firework display on June 27.
"We have made the firework display plan and will submit it to Thanh Hoa People's Committee and to the PM later. The costs will be covered by the private sector," Luong Tat Thang, chairman of Sam Son People's Committee said.
The authorities have worked on all issues to prepare for the festival such as security, environmental protection, and an online promotion programme.
According to Sam Son People's Committee, since early 2020, the local tourism been hit hard by Covid-19 pandemic. As of June, they welcomed 663,000 visitors or 11.9% of the goal. The revenue from tourism was VND447.4bn, accounting for 8.13% of the set goal.
The city authorities have held ornamental tree and wooden furniture displays as well as a bicycle tournament to attract 400 participants in Vietnam.
