Audio Visual Global (AVG) has the exclusive broadcast rights to all the matches of the Super League for the 2011-2030 seasons.
This was confirmed by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in a document signed by its president Nguyen Trong Hy on December 30.

VFF asked the Vietnam Professional Football JSC (VPF) and organizing boards of all professional football tournaments, namely the national football tournament (Super League 1), the First Division football tournament (Super League 2), the national Football Cup and the Super Cup match to continue implementing the broadcast rights that they signed with AVG in 2012 and the coming years.

Vietnam Television can only broadcast these matches live when it receives permission from AVG, said the document.

Earlier on December 29, VPF stated its rights, allowing VTV and its affiliates to broadcast live and re-broadcast all matches of the above-mentioned tournaments.

However, Nguyen Duc Kien, Deputy Chairman of VPF, said VPF has the rights to organize these tournaments as of 2012 and is the only owner of the broadcast rights. “The contract signed between VFF and AVG has nothing to do with VPF,” he said.

The infamous contract has caused many disputes and some experts said it is unreasonable for VFF to sign a 20-year contract in its 5-year term.

Kien described the contract as illegal, reasoning that it had not receive any agreements from clubs before it was penned by VFF and AVG.
