Vietnam is now just two places outside of the world’s top 100 national football teams after moving up one step to 102nd place in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, which were announced on May 17.

Park Hang-seo has come very close to realising the goal of making Vietnam among the world's top 100.

Vietnam’s national team, currently coached by Park Hang-seo, earned three additional points to take Sierra Leone’s position with a total of 334 points.

Park has come very close to realising the goal he signed up to on the day he took office as the head coach of Vietnam’s men’s national and U23 squads.

There remains only a narrow gap between Vietnam and the two teams placed above, Qatar and Libya, who currently have 339 and 341 points, respectively.

Vietnam is now just two places outside of the world’s top 100.

The small jump was enough to consolidate Vietnam’s reign on top of the Southeast Asian rankings this month. The Philippines came in second place as world no. 111 with 289 points (up two places against April), while world no. 122 Thailand followed in third with 253 points.

The world’s top ten rankings saw little change from the previous month, with Germany still on top with 1,544 points, followed by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Switzerland, France, Spain, Chile, and Poland.
