A programme called “Cung to he lo mo” or, "Playing and creating toys with To he", held every Sunday morning has been attracting attention from parents and children in Hanoi.

The programme beginning in mid-June has been providing an interesting and helpful environment for families with small children during the Hanoi summer.

The event, held at Tre Garden, 142 An Duong Vuong Street, from 8am to`12pm, has an entrance fee of VND20,000 per person. Both parents and children have the chance to join in various traditional games under the guidance of  volunteers from To He Company.

One volunteer said that they are introducing two key games at each event, together with other games, in which parents have an opportunity to play with their children in activities such as skip-rope, tug-of-war and kite flying. In addition attendees will also have the chance to make traditional Vietnamese foods and crafts such as lanterns and toys made of glutinous rice and pigment.

Programme officer Nguyen Thanh Thuy said that they will make the even an annual occasion for creating a summer playground for children, adding that it can be a good atmosphere for building stronger parent-child relationships.

“Instead of staying at home and watching television or playing video games, children will have a chance to play on a larger space, and possibly discover hidden talents while making toys. Parents will also have chance to relive their childhood days," Thuy said.

This year’s event will last until the end of August.

Established in September 2009 as a social enterprise, Tò he Company specialises in organising creative classes teaching drawing, kneading and making toys for disadvantaged children nation-wide. Through these arts classes, Tò he teachers have helped to bring opportunities to children to learn and play at the same time.
