 >>  New ATM fees to burden cardholders

Although many of the ATM machines in Hanoi are seriously damaged or in a state of disrepair, banks do not seem to be paying attention.

It has been estimated that there are around 1,100 ATM machines in the city, but many of them fail to meet the State Bank’s standards, as a result of carelessness of users and bad maintenance.

Many ATM machines have shown several problems with aging, such as fading keys and even rusty parts, making it difficult for users to even figure out how to insert their cards.

Also, advertisers have taken the opportunity of using ATMs as free advertising space, posting various adds, which are hard to remove and leave marks on the machines.
