Pedestrian streets in Hanoi full of motorbikes and cars

Visitors to pedestrianised streets in Hanoi have been complaining about large numbers of motorbikes, cyclos and taxis during the weekends, despite the ban.

Six streets namely Hang Buom, Ma May, Hang Giay, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Ta Hien and Dao Duy Tu were changed into pedestrian roads on weekend evenings two months ago, at least in theory.

In fact, these streets are still populated by the vehicles that have been banned, such as motorbikes, cars and taxis.

Many of these vehicles belong to people living on the pedestrian streets. Drivers use these streets blatantly, and seemingly with impunity.
