Cooperation signing event
The move, which initially involves ten restaurants and two taxi companies, is part of a campaign launched by the National Committee for Traffic Safety to curb alcohol-related traffic accidents across the country.
The restaurants have agreed to urge their customers not to drive after drinking too much beer and alcohol, providing overnight parking and enlisting free taxis using the GrabTaxi app to get them home.
Grabtaxi Vietnam is providing free breathalyzer devices to convince prospective drivers not to risk their safety and the safety of others. It is working with Tien Sa Taxi Co to provide free services.
Le van Trung, the director of the municipal Department of Transport, who is also head of the city’s standing board of traffic safety, said Danang is the first locality in Vietnam to dedicate itself to the “Don't drive after drinking” campaign, and has enlisted all communes and districts.
The campaign will be extended soon to Hanoi and HCM City.
