Many people in Hanoi continue to swim in the Red River in the early morning despite the icy winter temperatures.

Hanoi has experienced the strongest cold snap so far this year with the temperature falling below 10 degrees centigrade.

For years, nearly 60 members of Red River Swimming Club have kept their habit of bathing in the Red River. To them, swimming is not only a way to relax but also helps them to improve their health. So, the river area near Long Bien Bridge which is often crowded in summer still continues to attract devotees on cold days.

They do some exercises before swimming

Quang, 50, years old said that he has been swimming in the river for 15 years come rain or shine.

Most of the swimming club’s members are middle-aged or elderly people. The man in the photo is Tri Nguyen, 77, from Kham Thien Street who is an active member
