Hoi An Town has reopened again after the second wave of Covid-19 but has only received a few tourists.

Many tourists return to Hoi An

Traditional villages such as Tra Que Vegetable Village have reopened for visitors. Many tourist spots were also reopened but have seen few visitors.

According to the street vendors at night markets, they have reopened over a week ago but didn't have many customers. They had to give away the food to neighbours. Tour boat owners said they hoped tourism would pick up again so that they can start working to support families.

Hoang Van Lan, a boat owner, said he used to have ten trips a day but now he only conduct one to two trips. Some days he didn't have any customers. He and his wife earn only VND40,000 a day.

Several shops reopen

Hoi An Town was reopened on September 24 after being closed in late July amid the second wave of Covid-19 in Vietnam. According to the locals, after reopening, Hoi An has received visitors in Quang Nam and from neighbouring provinces. The visitors mostly arrive during the weekends since the holiday season peak has already passed and students had returned to schools.

"After the first wave, we received many visitors from Hanoi and HCM City. But this time, students have already gone back to school so we hardly have any customers," Lan said.

Hoi An authorities reduced the entrance fee by 50% until the end of October 31 to attract more visitors. Many activities including folk games and street performances were held across the town, especially during the weekends. Saturday nights are when the Piano Sound Show is held from 7 pm to 9 pm.

However, many shops are still closed. The owners said they were still waiting for more visitors.
