More roadblocks have been set up in residential areas in Hanoi as the city applied new social distancing rules for Covid-19 prevention beginning today, September 6.

According to the new instructions by the local authorities, the city will be divided into three zones based on the level of pandemic outbreak risk as well as characteristics of each locality such as geography, population and economic activity.

Stricter pandemic prevention and control measures and travel restrictions will continue to be applied in zone 1, comprising 10 districts - Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Cau Giay, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan, Ha Dong, Thanh Tri and Hoang Mai; and parts of the five districts of Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Thanh Oai, and Thuong Tin.

Meanwhile, looser measures will be implemented in zone 2 and zone 3 to match each locality’s economic situation.

Right before the new regulations took effect, more roadblocks were established to prevent people from zone 1 from going out and protect residents in zone 3 which currently have no Covid-19 infections.

The Hanoi Construction Department has helped build 30 roadblocks to prevent traffic at some major traffic points. The photo shows one at Noi Bridge in Bac Tu Liem District.

All the bridges spanning the To Lich River on Vu Tong Phan and Kim Giang streets in Thanh Xuan District have been closed.

Another roadblock was put up at Pho Vien Street in Bac Tu Liem District.

The fencing has affected the travelling and transporting goods of local people.

Lane 509 on Vu Tong Phan Street was closed with a high fence.
