Hanoi honours outstanding youths 2018

Hanoi hosted a ceremony to honour 10 outstanding youths in 2018 for their significant contributions in a wide range of fields.

This is the 10th annual event held by Hanoi Youth Union.

Pham Duc Anh, a student of Hanoi Medicine University, was among the honoured people. Anh won gold medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad for the two consecutive years of 2017 and 2018. He was also granted with the Labour Medal (Third Class).

The others in the list include Phan Ngoc Huyen, history lecturer of Hanoi National University of Education; Tran Bao Duy from Ngoi Sao Hanoi Primary and Secondary School; Nguyen Phuong Thao from Hanoi University of Natural Sciences; Dang Xuan Truong, director of Hachi Group; Major Le Trong Hieu, head of Social Order Investigation Police Board in Hanoi’s Dong Da District; weightlifter Lai Gia Thanh from Hanoi Sports Training Centre; Nguyen Quang Hai, player of the national football team; Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, a student from Vietnam National Academy of Music; and Tran Xuan Chien from NTC Vietnam Im-export Investment JS Company.

Initiated in 2009, the programme has highlighted many young people who have obtained prominent achievements in study, scientific research, creativity, defence, culture and art, sports and community social activities.

At the event, chairman of Youth Union of Vietnam Nguyen Ngoc Viet congratulated the award-winners and noted that their contributions were good examples for the public.
