According to initial information, these passengers were on flight VN300 which departed from Tan Son Nhat Airport at 0:35 am and arrived at Narita International Airport at 7:45 am on October 28.

Right after the airplane landed, the passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for medical check-ups.

According to a Vietnam Airlines representative, 33 among the total 34 passengers had been discharged from the hospital. After being checked by Narita International Airport authorities, the Vietnam Airlines’ airplane continued the operation with a flight from Tokyo back to Vietnam.

A source told Dantri/DTiNews late on October 28 afternoon that the 34 passengers suffered from food poisoning.

"The 34 passengers belonged to a group of 264 Japanese teachers and highschool students who were on their way to Japan after a tour to HCM City," the source said. "Right after the airplane took off, the passengers felt dizzy, nauseous and very tired. The airline staff had called for support from passengers and luckily there were a doctor there to help them before they could be sent to hospital."

The source also said that the passengers did not had any food or drink served by the airline staff during the flight.
