Many trains on the North-South railway route were delayed due to Storm Talas, affecting more than 4,000 passengers.

According to Hanoi Railway Passenger Transport Company, from the midnight of July 16 and 7.30 am July 17, many trees and electric pylons fell onto the rails from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An Province in the central region, preventing around 10 trains from the operation.

Until 7.30 on July 17, the problem was dealt with for the trains to operate again.

The railway sector provided free breakfast and drinking water for the passengers.

Earlier in June, the North-South railway section running through HCM City’s Thu Duc District experienced delays of nearly an hour due to heavy rain which put many local districts under the water.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said that the storm has weakened by 4 am on July 17 but heavy rains may cause landslide in mountainous areas and floods in some lower areas in provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh.

Since early Monday morning, Hanoi has been facing heavy rains, putting many streets under water.
