Nine tourists in Egypt bombed bus return to Vietnam

The first nine Vietnamese tourists who suffered light injuries in Egypt bus blast have returned to Vietnam on January 1.

The tourists reunited with their families at Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City.

Vo Anh Tai, deputy director of Saigontourist Travel Company, issued his thanks for the support from the Egyptian authorities Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and HCM City authorities that they were able to quickly bring the tourists home.

"Two remaining tourists and one guide are being taken the best care of in Egypt. We also hope that they'll recover quickly to reunite with their families in Vietnam in stable condition," he said.

He went on to say that the recovery process was going well and they might return to Vietnam by the end of the week.

Bui Ta Hoang Vu, director of HCM City Department of Tourism, said some of the returned tourists were traumatised and Saigontourist was still working with the insurance company over the cases. The authorities also completed procedures related to the dead. Their bodies will be returned to Vietnam on January 2.

Three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian guide were killed near the Giza pyramids after their bus was hit by a roadside bomb on December 28. Over 11 tourists and an Egyptian driver were wounded.
