New power plants to boost national energy supply

Two more hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 318MW were recently put into operation in the central province of Quang Nam and in the northern province of Ha Giang.

 
 Engineers inspect the Dak Mi 4 hydropower plant

The 208-MW Dak Mi 4 hydropower project began operations on January 16 in Quang Nam Province. It consists of three power plants, including Dak Mi 4A, Dak Mi 4B and Dak Mi 4C.

The project, which began construction in April 2007, is expected to generate 833 million kWh of electricity per year.

On January 15, the Bitexco Nho Que Joint Stock Company started a trial run on turbine 1 at the Nho Que 3 hydropower plant in Ha Giang Province.

The plant is located in the mountainous district of Meo Vac and has a capacity of 110 MW.

The turbine is expected to begin official operations in the middle of February 2012, and will generate 500 kWh of electricity per year.
