World beverage giant Coca Cola is expecting to receive support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop the non-alcoholic drink manufacturing industry in Vietnam.

The proposal was raised by the President of Coca Cola International Ahmet Bozer on Tuesday in a meeting with Minister Vu Huy Hoang.

Bozer said Coca Cola hoped to receive support from the ministry to develop the beverage market, especially for fruit juices. He added that the company would hire 500 more local workers for the business expansion.

Currently, Coca Cola provided jobs for about 2,000 local people and another 25,000 as indirect labourers.

Hoang said that the ministry was willing to provide support to Coca Cola in Vietnam and he hoped the company would use locally-grown fruit and raw materials in manufacturing.

Previously Coca Cola announced its plans to pour an additional investment of US$300 million into Vietnam.

In a recent meeting with leading US companies with investments in Vietnam, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh requested that Coca Cola provide information frequently and ensure the transparency of its business in the country.
