More passengers are flying business class on the new planes

Vietnam Airlines director Pham Ngoc Minh said passenger occupancy in the three months since the Boeing 787 and Airbus 350 had entered service had increased to up to 80%.

"Passengers are impressed with the four-star services and new planes," Minh said. "We spent USD2bn on upgrades to attract more passengers."

Vietnam Airlines is the first carrier in Asia to have both the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900 XWB in operation.

The Airbus 350 currently operates on the Hanoi/HCM City - Paris route. Vietnam Airlines is currently running the new Dreamliner on the Hanoi-HCM City route from August 3 and began Hanoi/HCM City to London Heathrow services in September. The Dreamliner will eventually operate on flights to Frankfurt.
