Hanoi General Export Import JSC (Geleximco) is seeking the Ministry of Transport’s permission to work with a Chinese company to build Long Thanh International Airport.

Tien did not reveal the name of the Chinese partner. However, earlier, he had ever told reporters that his company had a close relationship with some Chinese firms, including Sunshine Kaidi New Energy Group Co., Ltd.

Last year, Geleximco also sought for the Ministry of Transport’s approval to co-operate with Hong Kong United Investors Holding (HUI) to invest in four large-scale infrastructure projects in Vietnam which have a total capital investment of around USD50 billion, including Long Thanh International Airport.

HUI set up Hong Kong United Investors Holdings Vietnam on August 15, 2016 to prepare for its investment roadmap in Vietnam. It has a registered capital of USD50 million and its business scope focuses on civil construction and development of railways and roads.

Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia recently said that the total investment of Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province could reach USD16 billion.

Long Thanh Airport project's funding is expected to come from the state budget, ODA, private sector investment and public - private partnerships.
