Grab warned over out-of-scope operations
The Ministry of Transport has asked local authorities in Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Vinh Phuc to deal with Grab's illegal operation in the areas.
However, the pilot programme has been extended until the new transport law and the conditions for vehicle transportation is completed.
The authorities in Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Vinh Phuc provinces were asked to keep monitoring transportation methods that use technology and deal with violators. The Ministry of Transport also asked Grab to follow the regulations and not operate out of the scope of the programme.
Grab is not allowed to work in Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Vinh Phuc or make contracts with drivers without permission from local departments of transport.
In the latest draft transport law and the conditions for vehicle transportation bill, the Ministry of Transport suggested installing roof light for contracted transport cars that use technology such as Grab. The proposal received support from transportation association but was unsurprisingly opposed by Grab Taxi.
