Toll stations proposed to restrict cars in HCM City centre

HCM City Department of Transport has proposed spending of VND250 billion (USD10.86 million) to build 34 city centre toll stations for cars.

According to the department, the move is aimed to ease traffic congestion and environmental pollution in the city centre as well as help increase the budget for the road maintenance fund.

The project will use the municipal budget. The Saigon River Tunnel Management Centre will be the project investor.

The department earlier held meetings to seek opinion on the project. The fees will be imposed on cars which travel into the city centre.

The fees would be VND30-60,000, except for buses and other public vehicles.
