GoViet name to be changed to GoJek
Indonesia ride-hailing app GoJek is planning to abandon its local name in Vietnam as it seeks to strengthen operations and brand awareness.
It is promised that new services and features will be released to users. The new app's efficiency will increase in order to be able to meet user demand. GoViet representative said users would have a better experience with a simpler interface. Users don't have to download separate apps when they travel to Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
GoJek is one of the leading technology firms in Southeast Asia and one of the pioneers of the super app concept, connecting the users with two million drivers, 500,000 restaurants in over 200 cities in five Southeast Asian countries.
After entering Vietnam in 2018, GoViet saw significant developments, building a rich ecosystem featuring 150,000 drivers and 80,000 restaurant partners. GoViet now offers three services including GoBike, GoSend and GoFood.
Andrew Lee, Managing Director of GoJek's Global Spread Products said all three services were still available when the apps unify.
According to the experts, the unification will help GoJek to utilise bigger funds to compete with other rival apps.
