Dien Bien households prepare for tourists
As many as 100 households in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien have made preparations to receive tourists as the city is holding many activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7).
Dien Dien is witnessing a tourist surge. Therefore, many local hotels and guesthouses have been fully booked.
Owner of a hotel on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street said that all of the 40 rooms of the facility had been booked for May 7.
Dien Bien City have called on local households to register accommodation for visitors and to date roughly 100 households have joined.
These households are required to ensure fire prevention measures and make public service prices.
Among those, 22 households will provide homestay services in their traditional stilt houses which can accommodate 15-60 people each.
Pham Van Thang, a representative from the Dien Bien Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that since the Tet Lunar New Year, travellers to Dien Bien have sharply risen, leading to the accommodation shortage.
According to Thang, the province is home to more than 200 tourist accommodation establishments with a total of some 3,000 rooms.
