Northern region to face widespread hot spell
Vietnam's northern region will struggle with a widespread heat wave, with high temperatures of around 40 degrees centigrade in some areas.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the hot weather will intensify and expand to more northern localities starting tomorrow, April 27.
The blistering heat is expected to persist throughout the five-day Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day holiday, making it the hottest holiday in the past decade.
The temperature in northeastern localities and Hanoi would be between 36-38 degrees centigrade. Meanwhile, in some areas in the northwest, it could reach around 40 degrees centigrade.
Meanwhile, the sweltering heat would also affect Vietnam's northern and central regions.
Central localities, spanning from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen provinces, will also experience the heatwave, with temperatures ranging from 37 to 40 degrees centigrade.
