 >>  Blind single mother struggles to care for ill son

DTiNews readers have donated over VND109 million to a blind single mother in Hung Yen Province who struggles to care for her ill son in hospital.

Xinh receives donation

The mother, Dang Thi Xinh, was born into a poor family. She suffered from reddened and sore eyes and became blind from the age of four. She also lacked proper care, as her parents died early. Her 10-month-old baby has visited a number of hospitals and was admitted to the central Paediatric Hospital, suffering from respiratory distress and malnutrition.

It got worse when the baby was diagnosed with down's syndrome and congenital heart disease.

Even though Xinh cannot see her baby, she still visits him frequently. She said, "I know I can't have a normal family but I really wanted a child so I decided to give birth to him. Why he is tortured like this?"

Because of her situation, the hospital has supported both Xinh and her baby with meals.

Xinh and her nephew

On October 28, DTiNews transferred a total of VND109,140,000 (USD5,200) from kind readers to Xinh. Dang Xuan An, Xinh's nephew, will open and manage an bank account for Xinh with her agreement and the witness of communal authorities.

Xinh has sent her gratitude to generous donors and related agencies who have helped her and her child. Because Xinh's child has not been released from hospital, Xinh will use part of the money to pay hospital fees and medicine cost.
