Khanh Hoa FC coach Hoang Anh Tuan is expected to train the national football squad for their first two games of the Asian Cup 2015 qualifiers.
Tuan is likely to be selected by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) as he meets all criteria for the position of a caretaker coach, said a VFF official.

He outdoes 10 other candidates for his coaching experience, a good command of English, and his devotion to the national squad because he is a free coach.

The VFF official said the national football governing body held a talk with Tuan and received his nod in principle. Both sides will meet together to work on regulations of a contract in a couple of days.

VFF is expected to announce the name of the caretaker coach on January 7.

Born in 1968, Tuan was called in for the national line-up by Brazilian coach Adson Tavares in 1995, and was a key player of Khanh Hoa football club.

Under his coach, U21 Khanh Hoa triumphed at the National U21 Football Championships in 2007.

In 2010 Tuan led Khanh Hoa FC to fourth place of the National Football Championship (V-League). This was an impressive achievement for the club as it was in crisis and thought to be relegated that year.

Tuan was awarded an A-level certificate by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in 2005. He attended coaching courses in India and Switzerland. He was selected to attend an A-level coaching course at Henet sport school in Germany in 2009.

After the 2012 V-League, Khanh Hoa FC was transferred to Haiphong city, and Tuan became a free coach.
