Dozens of representatives from agencies in Vietnam gathered at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on the morning of July 4 to get tickets for the friendly Vietnam-Arsenal football match.

Many had to wait until noon to receive their tickets because the number of tickets made available to distributors was 9,000, while the number who had reserved tickets was much higher. The VFF even had to ask for help from police to control the situation while distributing tickets.

The vice chairman of the VFF Nguyen Lan Trung said, “This incident is unlike previous matches, because we decided to sell tickets directly from our headquarter." Organisers and fans continue to argue about the long wait. While many agencies registered to ensure tickets, it seems that there were more promised than issued.

Many agencies registered hundreds of tickets, but got only a small number of this because the approved number was based on their scale to ensure fairness.

Mrs. Thu Trang, of the VFF, specialising in ticket sales said that there was no agency that received more than 100 tickets.

The Arsenal Football Club has sent a list of 69 members who will participate in this friendly match with Vietnam on July 17, including some of their best.

The coach of the Vietnam National Team, Hoang Xuan Phuc, said that he will form a squad of 32 players, Cong Vinh, Minh Phuong, Buu Ngoc and Hong Son.
