Vietnamese named among top 100 Asian scientists
Two Vietnamese scientists have been named among the list of Asian Scientist 100 in 2018 by the Asian Scientist Magazine.
They are Prof. Dr. Phan Thanh Son Nam from the HCM City University of Technology and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Sum from Quy Nhon University.
This is the third year the Asian Scientist Magazine has announced Asian Scientist 100.
Each of the 100 honorees is qualified by having won a national or international prize in 2017 for their scientific research or leadership, according to the magazine’s website.
They are Prof. Dr. Phan Thanh Son Nam from the HCM City University of Technology and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Sum from Quy Nhon University.

Both of them were honoured for their winning of the 2017 Ta Quang Buu Awards held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology. Nam was honoured for his work on molecular catalysts in organic transformation, while Sum was hailed for his research on the Peterson hit problem, an open problem in polynomial algebra.
