Forty Vietnamese information technology (IT) students will head to Japan this month to work for two or three years and will be the fifth group of excellent students selected and trained by Japanese technology corporation Framgia in association with Vietnamese universities.

The students will work in the IT departments of well-known technology groups such as Media Do and Money Forward, with a starting salary of around VND40-50 million ($1,720-$2,150). Depending on their purpose and desire, the students can extend their time in the country beyond the minimum two to three-year period. Framgia carefully selected the students at “Job Fair” events around Vietnam.
“We appreciate the study results of the 40 excellent Vietnamese engineers,” said Mr. Kazunari Fujimoto, Director of the training course. “They are the fifth generation to travel to Japan for work and education in the last five years. We have begun to cooperate with high-quality Vietnamese IT universities, which not only helps resolve the lack of high-quality workers in Japan and improve the work experience opportunities for Vietnamese workers, but also bolsters the development of IT in Vietnam in the future. Vietnam is one of the attractive countries Framgia wishes to approach to support human resources in Japan.”
The 40 students have already finished five years of study at Vietnamese universities and have been studying the Japanese language. They have learned how to write programming reports and have improved their knowledge of Japanese people and culture.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, the country is short of 100,000 engineers in Information Security, Cloud Computing and Mobile Technology. In new technology, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, IoT, and Robotics, it will lack 600,000 technicians to 2030. There are more than ten Vietnamese software companies investing in opening new branches in the country.
In the last five years, the number of Vietnamese studying and working in Japan has stood at more than 260,000.
Framgia has cooperated with Vietnamese IT universities in Vietnam since 2014 in the hope of training 1,000 IT engineers to work in Japan.
