State president offers incense at Hung Kings' Temple

State President Tran Dai Quang and other officials visited and offered incense to Vietnam's mythical founding fathers at the Hung Kings Temple Festival on April 6.

At 5.30 am, thousands of people gathered at the main yard of the Hung Kings Temple Site to participate in the festival.

At 6.05 am, the parade including a procession of deities started from the main yard to Ha, Trung and Thuong temples. A squad carrying national and festival flags led the march.

The incense offering ceremony was hosted by Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Province Ha Ke San. The provincial chairman Bui Minh Chau highlighted the merits of Hung Kings and the spirits of generations of Vietnamese as well as the gratitude of the current generation.

After offering incense, Quang and officials laid down wreaths of flowers to tribute to the Hung Kings and Ho Chi Minh.

At 7.10 am, visitors were allowed to enter the site after the ceremony was completed.

According to the festival organisers, incense offering ceremony will be held at all temples and pagodas that worship Hung Kings, their families and generals in Vietnam on April 6. Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Province Ha Ke San said from April 1 to 5, they received a total of five million visitors.
