Tourism market heats up during Tet

Tourism in Da Nang is increasing heavily as the arrival of Tet approaches.

Many tours and packages have already sold out in Da Nang in anticipation of the Tet tourism rush.

Most Vietnamese people tend to enjoy Tet holiday at home with their families but that tradition is changing for some. With many fascinating destination in Vietnam, both local and foreign people have begun traveling during the holiday season.

The number of tourists has shot up by 15-30 percent according to travel agencies.

“During Tet the out-bound tours increase 15-25 percent because thanks to new air routes arriving at Guang Zhou, Taiwan, Japan and more," said Cao Tri Dung, Deputy Manager of Vitour Travel agency.

“Places like Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hanoi, and Sa Pa become favourite destinations for in-bound tours. The number of tours has gone up by 30 percent compared with the last year. Southeast Asian countries are the favourite destinations for out-bound tours,” said Le Thi Kim Oanh, Manager of Viettravel’s Da Nang branch.

Vietravel will receive 145 Japanese tourists within one day prior to the first day of Tet. They will visit Da Nang and neighbouring provinces.

Oanh said the number of tourists to Thailand is also on the rise as its political issues have begun stabilising.

Many travelers have booked their tours early to avoid the situation when tickets are sold out. Tourism agencies have reported an end to new bookings due to air and bus tickets already being sold out.
