Cuba, Vietnam step up environment cooperation

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang has just returned from a six day visit to Cuba where he joined representatives from over 60 countries around the globe attending an international environmental conference.

On the sidelines of the 10th International Conference on Environment and Development held July 5-10 at the Havana Convention Centre, Minister Quang met with his counterpart from Cuba, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya.

At the meeting, the two ministers discussed the urgent need and potential to step up comprehensive cooperation between the two nations principally aimed at improving environmental quality and climate change adaptation. 

Minister Quang proposed the two sides sign a memorandum of understanding or framework agreement on natural resources cooperation and increase scientific exchange visits and information.

During their stay in Cuba, the delegation offered flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh statute in Havana and visited Mariel Special Development Zone and Cuba Meteorology Institute.
