Khanh Hoa Province's authorities will inspect accusations that Nha Trang Sao JSC have damaged the environment of Nha Trang Bay through their project.

Nha Trang Sao JSC accused of filling up the bay

On December 21, Huynh Ngoc Bong, spokesperson of Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee, said they would work with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to inspect the project.

According to the locals, the distance between Hon Do and Hon Chong islets was originally hundreds of metres but it is being shortened and now locals can't anchor boats at the location anymore, claiming construction waste is being dumped in the bay.

Destroyed coral replaced with sand and rock to create a fake beach

Ngo Van Dung, director of Nha Trang Sao JSC, said they had dredged up dead coral and filled part of the Bay with sands and rocks to create a beach and this had already received official approval.

Inspectors from Khanh Hoa Department of Construction previously found out that the company had been building four constructions that are not listed in the approved plan, including a restaurant and a 60-metre-long embankment.

The construction of Nha Trang Sao, supposedly a cultural, entertainment and sport facility, was started on October 31. The USD30m project covers 103,568 square metres. It is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
