HCM City flower village gears up for Tet
People in Thoi An Village, the largest flower-growing hub in HCM City, are preparing for the coming Tet Lunar New Year.
Residents are busy fertilizing and pruning buds.
Each garden in Thoi An hires dozens of workers to take care of flowers at this time. They work from early morning to late afternoon.
Traders usually flock to Thoi An to book flowers 15-20 days before Tet.
All flower buds must be carefully removed by hand.
Nets are used to shape some flowers grown in pots.
Each flower bed is watered at least twice daily, depending on their variety.
Trinh Thi Kim Lan, owner of a flower garden in Thoi An, said flowers were expected to bloom at Tet with the weather forecasted to be favourable.
Lan hires five workers to care for her flower garden with a daily payment of VND200,000 each.
Visitors can come to Thoi An flower gardens to take photos.
Flower growers expect the fine weather to help flowers to bloom at the right time.
